About Us
Our beginnings
The Inland Fatherhood Initiative began with a simple but powerful vision—to bring evidence-based fatherhood training to the families of southeastern Washington and north-central Idaho. Founded in Pomeroy, Washington by Spencer and Cassandra Metcalfe, our organization grew from their personal experience with the transformative 24/7 Dad® program through the Spokane Fatherhood Initiative.
“We saw firsthand how structured support could strengthen our family relationships,” Spencer shares. “We wanted to create that same opportunity for fathers in our rural communities who often lack these resources.”
Our mission
We believe every child deserves a present, loving, and nurturing father. Our mission is to equip fathers with the skills, support, and community they need to fulfill this vital role in their children’s lives.
Starting our journey
This June, we’re excited to launch our first 24/7 Dad® Basic class—a 12-week program meeting one evening per week. Participants will develop essential skills in five key areas:
- Understanding themselves as men and fathers
- Building practical fathering skills
- Enhancing parenting abilities
- Developing healthier relationships
- Practicing essential self-care
As a new organization, we’re currently finalizing our meeting location in the Pomeroy area. The program will be offered at no cost to participants through the generous support of our initial donors and partners.
Communities we serve
We welcome fathers from throughout the region, including Pomeroy, Clarkston, Lewiston, Dayton, Waitsburg, and surrounding communities. Our vision is to eventually establish multiple program locations to better serve this widespread rural area.
Our leadership
Spencer and Cassandra Metcalfe bring their unique perspectives to lead this initiative with authenticity and compassion. Spencer participated in the 24/7 Dad® program through Spokane Fatherhood Initiative, experiencing personal transformation in his role as a father. As his wife and the mother of their four children, Cassandra witnessed firsthand how the program strengthened their family relationships and created positive changes in their home. Together, they share a deep commitment to bringing these same opportunities to other families throughout the region.
Ron Hauenstein, founder and Executive Director of Spokane Fatherhood Initiative, serves as a senior advisor, providing guidance from his years of experience developing successful fatherhood programs.
