Transforming Lives & Building Stronger Families

Founded in 2025, the Inland Fatherhood Initiative empowers fathers in southeastern Washington State (and some parts of Idaho) to become the dads their children need. As an organization born from the success of the Spokane Fatherhood Initiative, we share the vision that every child deserves a present, loving, and nurturing father.

Our Mission

We restore the value of fatherhood in our community by equipping dads with the skills, tools, and support they need to build healthy relationships with their children and families.

Through evidence-based training, mentorship, and community building, we help fathers of all backgrounds develop the essential skills for effective parenting:

1. Self-awareness

Understanding strengths and growth areas as a man and father

2. Fathering skills

Learning what it means to be a dad 24/7

3. Parenting skills

Developing practical tools for raising children

Why fathers matter

Children with engaged fathers experience:

Better emotional and mental health

When fathers are absent, children face increased risks of negative outcomes that affect entire communities.

Stronger academic achievement

Children with actively involved fathers are 43% more likely to earn A’s and 33% less likely to repeat a grade than their peers without engaged dads.

Fewer behavioral problems

Engaged fatherhood reduces behavioral problems in children and decreases delinquency rates, with children showing higher levels of sociability, confidence, and self-control.

Higher self-esteem

Positive father involvement contributes to children’s sense of security and positive self-image, creating a foundation for positive development and outcomes.

More positive social relationships

Children learn crucial social skills through interactions with their fathers, who typically engage with children differently than mothers by encouraging risk-taking within safe boundaries and healthy competition.

Improved physical development

Fathers’ unique style of play, often involving more physical activity, helps develop children’s motor skills and coordination while promoting healthy habits that can lower rates of obesity.

When fathers are absent, children face increased risks of negative outcomes that affect entire communities.
